Tenda i9 300Mbps Ceiling Mount Access Point for Indoor WiFi

A coffee shop full of customers, a busy office reception or a small hotel needs WiFi that reaches the areas where people actually use it. The Tenda i9 300Mbps Ceiling Mount Access Point provides an organized way to create wireless coverage through a wired network connection, without placing additional desktop routers around the building.

Designed for indoor business environments, this Tenda N300 wireless access point combines 2.4GHz WiFi, dual internal antennas, Power over Ethernet and centralized management support. It is particularly useful for installers planning ceiling-mounted WiFi in shops, offices, restaurants and guest accommodation.

Keep Your WiFi Installation Above the Clutter

The circular ceiling-mounted design helps the Tenda i9 blend into indoor spaces while positioning wireless coverage away from desks and counters. It can also be mounted on a suitable wall.

Unlike a plug-in WiFi repeater, the i9 connects to an existing network through Ethernet and creates wireless coverage at its installation location. This makes it an option for locations where a network cable can be installed and a separate wireless access point is needed.

For a larger property, multiple i9 units can be positioned in suitable areas, depending on the building layout and wireless coverage plan.as

The Tenda i9 operates on the 2.4GHz frequency band, supporting IEEE 802.11b/g/n wireless standards and a maximum theoretical rate of 300Mbps.

Its 2×2 MIMO technology and two built-in 4dBi omnidirectional antennas help distribute wireless signals around the installation area. Adjustable transmission power also allows installers to tune signal strength according to the surrounding environment.

Automatic channel selection and interference-reduction features are useful in locations with several nearby wireless networks.

Keep in mind that the Tenda i9 300Mbps Access Point is a single-band WiFi 4 device. It does not offer 5GHz connectivity or WiFi 6 features, and actual wireless speed will depend on connected devices, interference and network conditions.

PoE or DC Power — Flexible for Installation

Installing an access point on a ceiling becomes easier when a separate electrical outlet is not required near the device.

The Tenda i9 supports standard IEEE 802.3af PoE, allowing a compatible PoE switch to deliver data and power through the Ethernet cable. It also supports a 12V/1A DC power input for installations using a suitable power adapter.

With maximum power consumption below 8W, the i9 is designed for low-power indoor operation.

The device includes one 10/100Mbps Ethernet interface. Although its advertised wireless link rate reaches 300Mbps, the wired port is limited to 100Mbps. This is an important consideration when selecting an access point for higher-bandwidth network requirements.

Manage Multiple Access Points in One Network

For small businesses that want consistent wireless settings across several areas, the i9 provides useful configuration and management functions.

It supports up to four wireless SSIDs, allowing separate WiFi networks for different user groups. Guest networking, AP isolation, access control and adjustable transmission power provide additional flexibility.

The Tenda i9 also supports compatible Tenda wireless controllers for centralized access point deployment and monitoring. This can simplify administration when several Tenda APs are installed across a building.

According to Tenda, the maximum associated client count is 128, while the recommended client count is 10. For reliable performance planning, the recommended count is more relevant than the theoretical maximum, especially when users are streaming or transferring data.

Where Does the Tenda i9 Work Best?

The Tenda i9 Ceiling Mount WiFi Access Point is worth considering for small offices, reception areas, retail stores, restaurants, cafés, guesthouses and indoor business locations where straightforward wireless connectivity is the main requirement.

Its ceiling mounting, PoE support and controller compatibility make it particularly suitable for organized multi-AP installations.

However, if your project requires dual-band WiFi, Gigabit Ethernet or support for more demanding wireless traffic, consider a higher-performance access point instead of relying solely on the i9.
